Guillemots Gig (support)

It's been a case of always the bridesmaid and never the bride for indie rock band Guillemots. Their debut album 'Through the Windowpane' was nominated for the 2006 Mercury Music Prize. It was a favourite to scoop the prestigious title but lost out to Arctic Monkey's debut album 'Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not'. While in 2007, Guillemots were nominated for a BRIT Award for best British Live Act and lost out to Muse.

Guillemots were formed in November 2004 by Fyfe Dangerfield, who recruited the rest of the band (MC Lord Magrão, Aristazabal Hawkes and Greig Stewart) after moving to London from Birmingham.

In 2005, the band won fans while supporting Rufus Wainwright on his sold-out UK tour. The buzz generated from this helped Guillemots take fifth place on the BBC's Sound of 2006 survey, as voted by music industry tastemakers.

Later that year, the four-piece released its debut album to widespread critical acclaim and reached a respectable number 17 on the UK chart.

This was followed in March 2008 by the band's sophomore 'Red' album, which reached number nine on the UK chart.

With their fan base growing and profile steadily rising, it shouldn't be long before Guillemots become the rock superstars they deserve.

Guillemots will be supporting KT Tunstall at the 2008 Eden Sessions. Buy tickets now.
