Kaiser Chiefs Gig
The Eden Project has scored a major coup by having Kaiser Chiefs, one of the biggest bands in the world, headlining a Sessions gig on July 15.
The band, who hit fame with anthemic tunes I Predict a Riot, Ruby and Oh My God, join The Verve (June 27) and KT Tunstall (July 25) as the third Sessions headliner to be announced in 2008.
Kaiser Chiefs's debut album Employment was released in 2005 and sold more than three million copies. It reached number two in the UK album chart and was shortlisted for the Mercury Prize of that year.
I Predict a Riot, the second single taken from the album, was voted one of NME's Greatest Indie Anthems Ever chart.
In 2006, Kaiser Chiefs swept the BRIT Awards, winning Best British Rock Act, Best British Group and Best British Live Act. At the same year's prestigious Ivor Novello Awards, Employment was given the Best Album award.
The record received the same honour at that year's NME Awards.
The band's second album Yours Truly, Angry Mob hit the shelves in 2007, reached number one in the UK album chart and has remained solidly in the top 100 since its release, selling well over a million copies. The first single from the album, Ruby, became their first UK number one single.
Kaiser Chiefs, who are currently working on their third album, have cemented their reputation amongst the best live acts in the world with acclaimed festival sets at Glastonbury in 2005 and Reading, Leeds, T In The Park and Oxegen in 2006 as well as Festivals across the globe.
This will be the seventh year of the Eden Sessions at the home of the iconic Biomes in Cornwall.
